Principal's Message

Dear Farragut Middle School Community,

Thank you for visiting the Farragut Middle School website!  Please browse through our site to learn more about the amazing academic, extra-curricular and social-emotional opportunities that exist here in Hastings-on-Hudson.

I joined the Hastings school community in June of 2023.  Prior to being appointed Principal of FMS, I served as a middle school mathematics teacher/department chairperson in the Yorktown Central School District, Dean of Students in the Carmel Central School District, and Assistant Principal, Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in the Eastchester Union Free School District.  Each experience I have had over the past 20+ years in education has helped shape my professional perspective on teaching and learning.

Here at FMS, we believe that schools are communities in which all members are responsible for the promotion of learning.  Learning takes place throughout the day, both inside and outside of the classroom.  Students need to be actively engaged in meaningful, relevant, differentiated, student-centered activities.  Together, we must strive to encourage inquiry and personal development through the creation of a climate of high expectations; this must be complemented by a tone of respect for all things within the school community.  School personnel must partner with the entire Hastings community to support our school as a place of exploration, creativity, risk-taking and joy.

As Middle School Principal, it is my intention to support the school community through visibility, a strong presence and active participation; engaging students, staff, parents and community members on a daily basis.  As a leader, I will strive to build trusting relationships which foster open communication and welcoming attitudes.  My decision-making process is built upon a foundation of honesty, ethics and strong morals.  Overall, it is my goal to support an environment of trust through motivation, affirmation of positive behavior, constructive criticism and positive rapport.
